Labor Day Weekend….with MOM!!
Mom came for a visit; got on a plane and came to see me for the weekend 🙂 She flew in on Friday afternoon. I went and picked her up, we stopped for a beer and snacks and then came back to where I’m staying. We decided to keep it simple and go out for supper (she was at MSP at 3:00 AM central) and then get some rest for a fun-filled Saturday.
Saturday. We didn’t have an agenda, so I just threw some ideas out. The weather was odd – cloudy with a light rain. We decided to start off by going to Dunlap, TN so I could show her the house that I bought. It’s one of the most beautiful drives – up and over the mountains. I stopped at a scenic overlook on the way back and we enjoyed the ‘postcard’ view. The pictures don’t do it justice, but you get the idea.
Once we got back to Chattanooga, I took Mom downtown where, on Saturday’s, they have vendors set up and, well, if you know my mom……we did some shopping! I now have a few more jewerly pieces……as does my mother…..lol. After having done spent some pennies, Mom wanted to go on a carriage ride 🙂 SO MUCH FUN! A nice leisurely stroll downtown Chattanooga in a princess carriage – who wouldn’t love that!? And look at her smile – SO happy!
Lunch was in order next – Burger Republic it was. Cold beer and tasty burgers! Mom made a wisecrack about taking “the man” home……lol……told her it’d be me before her….hahaha 😉
After we ate we walked around downtown and stopped for a few beverages…..a person gets thirsty doing all that walkin’ 😉
Once we had a few drinks, we decided to head back to the airbnb, let the pups out, relax and grab an Uber to the Chattanooga Choo Choo for some more drinks and supper! Chattanooga Choo Choo was a bit different than I was expecting, but, of course, mom and I had fun. We ate on the patio at Stir – ordered some very delicious oysters and then had a magnificent shrimp salad. I believe the people watching was the best entertainment…….
Sunday. The weather was super cloudy and we weren’t sure if it was going to rain or not. The mountains make the weather VERY different! Decided on an hour train ride “Missionary Ridge Train Ride” which was AWESOME…..I may be a lil biased, I do LOVE trains 😉 We went through a pre-Civil War horseshoe shaped tunnel and got to see them turn the steam engine around on the turntable!!!!! EEEKKKKK……that was AMAZING!
After the super cool train stuff, Mom wanted to go shopping – she needed something to wear for the Sunset Cruise on the Southern Belle. So we hit up the Hamilton Place Mall in Chattanooga. Pretty cool for a mall, different stores and 2 levels – I’ll go back there. After shopping we needed a break, went back to the airbnb, napped for a bit and then got ready for the Sunset Cruise….WOW….all I can say is if you get the chance, do it. Even though it was cloudy and we didn’t see the sunset, it was still beautiful and wonderful……
It was a great weekend spent with Mom………and I can’t wait to do it again 🙂 Love ya Mom!
