It’s been a couple of days, but not much has been going on. There’s been some flooding in Southeastern Kentucky (about 5.5 hrs to the east of where I am) where towns have been washed out and people have lost children, animals, and their lives. They received about 11-14″ of rain in 48 hrs in some places and more after that; not to mention the run off from the Appalachian Mountains. So devastating.
On to more uplifting topics…….Friday after working a 10 hour day, I decided to find a distillery to tour and try some samples 🙂 Found Casey Jones Distillery about 45 min away; place was beautiful and the people were SO nice! They give tours on the hour and I actually arrived just in time for the last one (7 pm); since no one else was signed up, I ended up with a private tour! My tour included 3 tastings; now, a tasting is JUST enough to cover your tongue, it’s not a shot or a glass. Comes in a tiny plastic, thimble sized vessel. The strongest I tasted was 128 proof, honestly, it was good – a little burny, but good. My favorite was the Barrel Cut Double Barrel, about 90 proof. Really neat to see and hear how the process works – and, of course, to taste 😉
