Saturday, July 22, 2022 (Part 2)

After an amazing lunch I took a drive. There’s a pennisula in Kentucky that dips into Tennesse called Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. As you can see, there’s a lot to explore. I chose the see the Great Western Iron Furnace first. I had no idea about iron furnaces or that iron was even a thing in this part of the country; super interesting and just another great thing to learn about our amazing country. It was wondrous…

Saturday, July 30, 2022 (Part 1)

Saturday……Yay for Saturdays! Today was a pretty amazing day 🙂 The weather was overcast and a little rainy, but not enough to stop me from adventuring. After I roused my ass out of bed, I thought I’d better start with some food. And food here, is….well, pretty damn tasty. I found a restaurant called Coppertop Bar-B-Q in Fredonia, Ky. The entire drive was backroads; old farm buildings, narrow roads, fields and animals – I think I drove like 50 mph,…

It’s been a couple of days, but not much has been going on. There’s been some flooding in Southeastern Kentucky (about 5.5 hrs to the east of where I am) where towns have been washed out and people have lost children, animals, and their lives. They received about 11-14″ of rain in 48 hrs in some places and more after that; not to mention the run off from the Appalachian Mountains. So devastating. On to more uplifting topics…….Friday after working…

Back to work today, felt good. I got to connect with my peeps and I smiled a lot – I’ll take that for “Terrible Tuesday”! After work ate some leftover chicken alfredo and then took the fur babies for a ride on Lake Barkley Dr. which runs around a portion of the Cumberland River. It was very peaceful and quiet; great end to a great day. “So lovely was the loneliness of a wild lake” – Edgar Allen Poe

Explored the area a bit today. Discovered that Kuttawa, KY is a water community; lakes, rivers, etc., restaurants on the harbor and amazing views. Even got to see about 4 fish jump out of the water for a snack, that was a first! Boats……lots of BIG boats Food was next on the list….. Had a really tasty lunch at The Oasis Southwest Grill, which consisted of pulled pork, coleslaw and fried okra…….simply awesomeness. There’s even a DIY how to make…

I left MN today to stay in Kuttawa, KY for the next 2 weeks….eeek, how exciting!!! It was a full 10 hour drive for the fur babies and I; but we did it 🙂 There were some things I learned on the drive….1) In Iowa, they don’t use the passing lane for that purpose, they just drive in it. 2) St. Louis….well, the speed limit was 60 and I couldn’t keep up at 75-80…for real. 3) Trying to find your…

Hello world!

Hello world!

Freedom. That word has many meanings and today, for me, it means less stress, less responsibility and more – well, more life. We’re raised in a world where we’re conditioned to do certain life events in an order of sorts. We go to grade, middle and high school and then graduate. Between starting high school and graduating we are to learn to work and start to become responsible adults. For some, college is a requirement; while others could care less…
